A native of Los Angeles, Devin Crane's background is as diverse as the city he calls home. Devin has been a professional in the film industry for the past 12 years, leading his dynamic talent and perspective to everything from the Oscar-nominated Shrek 2, to Aliens 4 and has even dabbled in the world of theme park design. His distinctive and unconventional background in film has inspired Devin to ephasize narratives throughout his artworkwhile remaining abstract enough to allow viewers to bring their own perspective.
Devin's observations of humanity often create a sense of heightened awareness for the audience; conveyed by the masterful combination of highly stylized figures, rich colors and predominant use of satire thoughout his pieces.
"I think my background in film has really given my paintings a different edge. Hopefully, my work will resonate in the viewers mind long after they leave my show. The stories and the people in my paintings are very important to me, i really try to create a rich world for them to play in. Gallery work is essential to my self-expression as an artist. I really feel like there are idealss i need to express - to get out of me. These are vest communicated through painting".
